A Brief History of Friday Services, Inc.
The company had its origin in 1980, when a service-minded lady in Hendersonville, NC started a secretarial business for local clients, typing letters and reports, and offering general office support. People found the service of value and asked if these services could be provided at their business location - the beginning of “Friday Temporary Help Services.” The business grew, as did the founder’s two children. In August, 1987, the founder sold the business to devote more time to her family. The new owners, Diane and John Modaff, had moved from Illinois to Western North Carolina by choice. Diane had enjoyed working as a temporary office employee, and John had twenty-five years of service experience as a commercial banking executive. This background attracted them to the staffing industry.
Company Milestones
In 1987, the business had a single office and three in-house employees. Today, Friday’s monthly business volume now far exceeds the annual volume in 1987. (We are proud to say the company treasurer, JoAnne Hoots, had been with the company from 1980 until her retirement in August of 2000.) The company opened offices in Asheville in 1988 and in Morganton in 1993. To expand service in technical and professional areas, Friday purchased two businesses: Rent-an-Exec in 1990, which became Friday Technical Services, and Tri-County Personnel Service in 1991, which is now Friday Professional Services.
Friday Services’ business style is a privately held North Carolina corporation. The company operates as an independent business and is not affiliated with any franchise organization. All of the company’s business functions, sales, service and administration, are managed and processed by the company’s own staff members. External experts or consultants are engaged as needed. The company’s original paper record system has advanced to a state-of-the-art communications network managed by a staff of Information Technology specialists. All locations are networked for instant sharing of information concerning job candidates’ availability, employee status, and client job orders. Employees, clients and the public can communicate with the company via email and the company’s website, www.Friday-staffing.com.Friday encourages staff members to support the communities where they live and work. The company, its employees and its owners support United Way, Make-A-Wish Foundation and many other community and charitable organizations. Friday maintains membership in local Chambers of Commerce and other civic organizations, and several national professional organizations.

Industrial: Light and heavy assembly, material handlers, manufacturing, auto and boat mechanics, fork lift operators, general labor, fabrication, maintenance, janitors, stock clerks, and machine operators. All shifts available, including 12-hour shifts with 3-day weekends!
