What Makes Employees Stay?

The 4 most important reasons people work for a particular staffing service.

How you treat me matters most. A close second is how busy you keep me. Those are the top two reasons people give for staying with their staffing company, according to a survey by TempDigest, an international staffing publication. The magazine surveyed 245 active staffing employees across the U.S., asking why they work for their current staffing company. “How you treat me,” placed first at 31%, with “You keep me busy,” a close second at 30%. Pay rate came in third at 28%. The fourth-ranking consideration was benefits, with health insurance, paid vacations and holidays, and skills training topping the list. Friday Staffing offers all the more-desirable employee benefits:

  • Medical/Life insurance (50% paid),
  • Vacation pay (2 weeks after 2 years!)
  • Holiday pay
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Free training to qualified applicants
  • Direct deposit of paychecks
  • Referral bonuses.

Plus benefits unique in our industry:

  • TELCO Credit Union Membership
  • Employee Assistance Program

Credit Union Q&A

What Is A Credit Union?

A cooperative financial institution owned and controlled by members who use its services. Credit unions are not-for-profit, and exist to provide a safe, convenient place for members to earn interest on their savings, and to borrow money at reasonable rates.

What makes credit unions different from other financial institutions?

Unlike credit unions, bank or savings & loan are in business to make a profit; their stockholders and investors expect to make a healthy return.

Where did the idea come from to create Credit Unions?

The basic idea– that people should be able to pool their money and make loans to each other– evolved from cooperative activities in 19th century Europe. The idea surfaced again in Canada in the 20th century. Canada’s success influenced two Americans: Pierre Jay, the Massachusetts banking commissioner, and Edward A. Filene, a Boston merchant. They helped organize public hearings leading to the first state credit union act in 1909. Guiding principles have remained the same since then:

  • Only credit union members should borrow there,
  • Loans are made for “prudent and productive” purposes,
  • A person’s desire to repay (character) is considered more important than the ability (income) to repay. Members are, after all, borrowing their own money and that of their friends.

These principles still govern most of the world’s credit unions.

Will my money be safe?

Credit unions operate in a very prudent manner. They are government-regulated and deposits are insured up to $100,000.

How can I become a member?

To join a credit union, you must have something in common with the other members – such as where you work. If you work for Friday Staffing or Friday Technical Services, you are eligible for membership in Telco Community Credit Union. Simply open a Share Savings Account with an initial deposit of $25. Once you join you may remain a member for life– even if you relocate, change jobs or retire– as long as the initial deposit of $25 remains in your account.
