During this Thanksgiving season, we’re thinking about all the many things we are grateful for at Friday Services. Our staff celebrated Thanksgiving a little early this year by gathering together to enjoy some delicious food, great company, good conversation, and lots of laughter. We’re thankful to be part of an amazing work family, and we’re thankful for continued job growth in North Carolina, so that we can help others find their ideal “work home” as well.
For almost 35 years now, we’ve been working hard to help people every day: to find jobs, get better jobs, get promoted and apply for internal positions, and to pair the right employees with the right employers. North Carolina Jobs on the Rise
We’re seeing growth and movement across several different types of industries, with North Carolina in a good position to compete, attract, and grow new jobs. This year we have been seeing the results of this job growth. The numbers of workers who obtained permanent employment through our staffing agency increased 135% in 2014, when compared to 2008.
We’re particularly thankful for the growth that the manufacturing sector has seen recently, both here at home and nationally. The North Carolina Economic Development Board report on Recommended Strategies for Economic Growth 2014-2024 shows that manufacturing remains important to North Carolina’s economy, generating 20% of our state Gross State Product. According to a recent White House report, American manufacturing has added 700,000 jobs since February 2010, the fastest pace of job growth since the 1990s. This means we have been able to place workers in even more great manufacturing jobs this year.
Also in 2014, we’ve seen an overall increase in numbers of qualified applicants. We’re grateful that our improved online job application system is allowing us to help even more workers. Western North Carolina is home to a skilled and diverse labor force and we’re happy to serve local employers and employees alike by matching workers with job opportunities.
