6 Tips to Get a New Job Fast this Holiday Season

Dec 8, 2015

Did you make a promise to yourself that you would get a new job or change careers in 2015? Though it is the end of year and the holidays are upon us, it is not too late to start. Whether you are seeking a temporary employment solution or searching for a long term career change opportunity, here are a few tips that can help you find a new job as quickly as possible:

1). The fastest way to find a new job can be through a staffing agency.

Instead of researching all the available jobs that employers are hiring for in Western North Carolina and then filling out all that paperwork for multiple employers, you only have to fill out one single application to work at the staffing agency. For example, filling out an online job application with Friday Services is like applying for up to sixty jobs at once.

Right now we have a particular need for manufacturing workers with flexible schedules (experience preferred but not required for all jobs) and office workers for data entry openings as well as medical office jobs for those with scheduling, collections, insurance, and billing experience. If this sounds like you, we may be able to help you get a job very quickly.

2). Be open to trying new types of positions.

We hire workers for a variety of jobs throughout Western North Carolina, including clerical (office), industrial, technical, and professional openings with respected local employers. Search all of our current job openings here.

Would you be willing to try an entry level manufacturing job, even if it is something that you don’t have experience with? If your goal is to find a job as fast as possible, flexibility can help speed up the time it takes to get placed in a position.

3). Be as flexible as possible with your schedule.

Opening up your shift availability will often increase the chances you’ll get hired. A worker who is available to work any shift on any days (including weekends), is likely to be hired faster than workers who can only work first shift Monday through Friday.

4). Be positive during conversations with recruiters and hiring managers.

When you attend an interview with a pleasant and upbeat attitude, you are much more likely to be considered for a job than someone who seems bored or in a bad mood.

5). Turn off your cell phone when talking to a potential employer.

Getting distracted by replying to text messages or answering phone calls during interviews gives employers the impression that you are not really serious about getting a job.

6). Attend a career fair.

Friday Services is hosting our own career fair on Wednesday, December 9th, from 10am until 2pm. This event will be held at the Pack Memorial Library in Downtown Asheville, 67 Haywood Street. You do not need to have a resume to apply for a job with Friday Services, but when you fill out our online application you will need to provide your detailed education and work history including any degrees or certifications you have earned and past employers’ contact information, job duties and titles, former supervisors’ names, pay rates and other information for each job you have worked in over the past 7 years. Also, bring contact information for your references to the career fair.

Those interested in attending the Career Fair can pre-register online. On the day of our Career Fair, all applicants will have the opportunity to meet with a Staffing Generalist and be matched to the opportunity that best meets their interest and skills.
